Peoria City wins! 2-0 shutout over FC Wichita

PEORIA, IL – Peoria City tallied its second win of the season Wednesday night with another shutout of FC Wichita.

PC got off to a hot start with #14 Alex White scoring in the 6th minute of play. White’s first goal of the season comes off his strong pressure in the offensive zone, stealing the ball from the Wichita defender and burying it in the net.
Peoria City held the 1-0 lead heading into half-time. The hot weather once again causing water breaks to be issued, per USL League Two rules.
Nearly 20 minutes into the second half, Jonas Lyshoj knocks in his second goal of the season. After some beautiful footwork and ball handling by Lyshoj, he sneaks the ball in the bottom left corner of the goal.
Peoria will hold onto the 2-0 lead for the rest of the match. Goalkeeper Mason Hart tallies his first clean sheet over FC Wichita.
Watch parties were held all over central Illinois at our different River City Brews partners. Supporters posted photos and comments on social media from the Bullpen Sports Bar & Grill and Castle’s Patio Inn showing their support of the club.
The squad will continue our stretch of away games this weekend. Peoria City heads north in the Prairie State a couple hours to take on the Chicago Dutch Lions at Spartan Athletic Park in Aurora. The game will be Saturday, June 10th at 7:00 PM.
The FieldHouse Bar & Grill is hosting a watch party that night.

“Peoria will play home to future stars of American soccer.”
