“Peoria City Soars” | Flying Carp ranked #2 in the nation!

(PEORIA, Ill.) — The Peoria City Flying Carp have been soaring to new heights this season, with a 3-0-1 record, 17 goals scored, and only 1 goal allowed.

The fantastic start by our players and coaches has landed Peoria City at the #2 spot in all of USL League Two! For context, there are nearly 130 teams across the U.S. and Canada!
The official League power rankings released the following comments about our season’s start:
“Peoria City gives us no choice with their play — we MUST talk about the start to this season. After a 1-1 draw with Des Moines Menace at Valley Stadium, Peoria have scored sixteen unanswered goals in three matches, including two 6-0 wins against Chicago Dutch Lions and Sueno FC.”
Later on in the rankings, we arrive at our Division rivals the Des Moines Menace, who started at #4 in the nation at the start of the season. A 1-1 draw against Peoria City dropped the Menace to #7, and with our jump to #2, they now sit at #8.
“Two resounding wins for the Menace do just as much to get them back on track as it does to bolster the reputation of Peoria City. They won’t have a chance at revenge until July, so until then, the Menace will have three consecutive away matches through the first two weeks of June.”
The Flying Carp are back at home Saturday, June 1st for a non-League game, hosting Springfield FC. This will be Irish Night, presented by the Peoria Irish Fest and St. Patrick Society of Peoria, Illinois. It is also the inaugural Lincoln Cup, a home-and-home aggregate series against Springfield FC. Whoever scores the most goals in the 2 games, wins the 2024 Lincoln Cup!
We are on the road next Thursday against Division newcomer River Light FC in Aurora, before hosting Chivas de Guadalajara U23 on both June 9th and June 12th. We also have our second leg of the Lincoln Cup on the road between the two Chivas games, against Springfield on Tuesday, June 11th.
