Peoria City Returns to Heartland Division for Its Third USL League Two Campaign

As the franchise prepares for its third season of exciting action on the pitch this summer, Peoria City returns to the seven-team Heartland Division for the second straight year, according to a nationwide announcement of division assignments by USL League Two Tuesday.

The 2024 Heartland Division membership will include four Chicagoland teams, including the return of 2023 division rivals Chicago City SC and Chicago Dutch Lions SC. The division also welcomes first-year USL League Two squads River Light, based in Aurora, as well as the Joliet-based Sueño FC.

Across stateliness into the Show Me State hails St. Charles FC. New to the division in 2023, St. Charles and Peoria City each tallied one victory against each other. The Division’s sole Iowa team is the Des Moines Menace. Consistently a top-ranking team in USL League Two.

Tuesday’s announcement of division assignments is a precursor to the announcement of the complete USL League Two schedule, which will be revealed for every member franchise Thursday, Feb. 15.

Peoria City will reveal its 2024 schedule during a special, preseason press conference Thursday at Noon at Industry Brewing Co. (8012 N. Hale, Peoria, IL). Thursday’s press conference is open to the public.

“Peoria will play home to future stars of American soccer.”
