Peoria City fights hard in home loss to Chicago City, Now Hits the Road

PEORIA, IL – Ending our three game homestand, Peoria City is now gearing up to hit the road for the next four matches.

Despite the extreme heat Peoria, Illinois sustained on Saturday, 924 Peoria City supporters packed Shea Stadium to cheer on the squad. The USL League Two team is averaging over 1,000 fans per home game to start the year. This is over a 30% increase in our attendance numbers last season.

Despite a great crowd and perfect weather once it cooled down at night, Peoria City dropped Saturday’s match to Chicago City SC 0-2.

The Tacos and Thai Truck and Sucre Sweets & Socials were both at Saturday’s match serving many fans ahead of kick-off.

Now, Peoria City looks to gain some momentum on the road. We play our next four games away from Shea Stadium, but we’ll be back at home on June 24th.

Our next match is at 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 7th. The Bullpen Sports Bar & Grill at Landmark will be hosting a watch-party for Wednesday’s game. We face division foe FC Wichita, who we beat 3-0 at home on May 26th.

We enjoyed meeting supporters and members of The 309 at Bearded Owl Brewery ahead of Saturday’s match for the official release of the Peoria City Pilsner. Many people we spoke with say the beer is extremely refreshing and an overall high-quality beer. You can try the Peoria City Pils at our River City Brews partners across central Illinois.

“Peoria will play home to future stars of American soccer.”
