4 Roster Additions Announced Ahead of Friday’s Match

PEORIA, IL – Looking for their first victory Friday, Peoria City Soccer adds some strong depth to the roster. 

Four players, two international, have been officially cleared by the USL and are suiting up for Friday’s match.

From O’Fallon, Illinois comes Matteo Boasso. Boasso is a multi-faceted forward/midfielder who played his freshman year at Saint Louis University (SLU). He scored 21 goals in MLS Next Leagues in U-17-U-19 seasons.

Josh Gomina hails from Sampa, Ghana. The winger/left back plays at the University of South Florida, appearing in all 14 of the Bulls’ contests in 2021. He was voted to the AAC All-Rookie Team.

From the Lone Star State heads Jacob James. The Houston, TX native is a midfielder and plays soccer at Winthrop University. Standing at 6-4, James played 10 games in his Redshirt Freshman season, tacking on 1 goal against Wofford.

Peoria welcomes Jonas Lyshøj from Hillerod, Denmark. The midfielder transferred from Monmouth University to Bryant University. He started all 15 matches in his sophomore season, tallying one goal and four assists.

The squad gears up for their second match of the season Friday night. After a record-breaking attendance at the home opener, Peoria City Soccer is ready to do it all again!

Five food & dessert trucks will be on-site at Friday’s match. Dos Hermanos, Haddad’s (Tony’s on Wheels), Sucre Sweets & Socials, Sweet Girl Treats and Tropical Sno are ready to go!

Tailgating begins at 4:30, food trucks between 5:30 & 6:00. Kick-off is at 7:30! Looking to bounce back, Peoria City chases victory Friday evening at Shea Stadium.
