(FEBRUARY 28, 2025 | PEORIA, IL) – Peoria City’s popular Copa Peoria Series has expanded its showcase with the addition of a key, early-season high school girls soccer matchup featuring traditional local power Peoria Notre Dame against Western Big 6 Conference foe Geneseo.
In a rematch of a 2023 IHSA Sectional Final, PND and Geneseo will open the March 22 Copa Peoria Series action with a 1:00 pm kickoff at Peoria Stadium, to be followed immediately by the international friendly between 2024 USL League Two national runner up Peoria City against the Under 23 team from one of the world’s most popular professional soccer clubs, Chivas de Guadalajara.
One ticket will be good for both games of the March 22 Copa Peoria Series doubleheader and are on sale now with three seating options beginning at just $10: digital tickets may be purchased online at PeoriaCitySoccer.com/tickets, while traditional paper tickets may be purchased at a number of local businesses (listed below).
The March 22 Copa Peoria Series also is included in Peoria City’s 2025 season-ticket packages, which are on sale now at PeoriaCitySoccer.com/tickets and start at just $45 for the men’s team’s 9-game home schedule. Bundled men’s and women’s season-ticket packages begin at just $65.
Peoria City introduced the Copa Peoria Series in the middle of its 2024 USL League Two season, hosting the Chivas U23 squad in consecutive international friendly matches June 9 and June 12 at Bradley University’s Shea Stadium. A cumulative crowd of more than 5,000 saw the teams play to a 0-0 draw in the opening game, followed by a 3-2 Chivas U23 victory three days later in the rematch. Peoria City would go on play in the USL League Two national championship game, hosting all five rounds of the Playoffs and winning the Central Conference Championship during its magical postseason run.
The Copa Peoria Series game will serve as PND’s home opener as the Irish begin the quest to improve upon last season’s IHSA State Tournament third-place finish. The Irish have qualified for the IHSA state tournament finals 11 times in their program history. PND faced Geneseo in the 2023 Dunlap Sectional Final and the Irish advanced to the Super Sectional following a 4-0 victory against the Maple Leafs.
