(APRIL 14, 2025 | PEORIA, IL) – The inaugural season of Peoria City women’s soccer added a bolt of excitement Monday with the addition of a NWSL reserve team to the 2025 home schedule. Presented by Donnelly’s Irish Pub, the club has been provided a premium opportunity to host 2026 WPSL expansion team Kansas City Current II Saturday, May 31 (7:30 p.m.) at Shea Stadium.
As the NWSL franchise prepares to enter its reserve team in WPSL next summer, KC Current II has announced a trio of friendlies this summer. After visiting USL W franchise Minnesota Aurora FC May 18, KC Current II will visit Shea Stadium May 31 for its first WPSL matchup, then will visit Peoria City’s Gateway Division rival, Lou Fusz Athletic, June 1.
Tickets for the premium exhibition match are included in Peoria City’s season-ticket packages, which start at just $25 for the women’s only schedule or $65 for the bundled, men’s and women’s packages. Single-game tickets for the May 31 matchup versus Kansas City Current II start at $6. Peoria City’s USL League Two men’s squad will continue its preseason schedule April 26 by taking on Bradley in the Shea Classic, followed by a May 3 contest against Northwestern University. The club officially will begin defense of its 2024 USL League Two Central Conference championship by opening the regular season May 10 at FC Ambush, then will host the St. Louis-based squad in the regular-season home opener May 17 at Shea Stadium.
The Peoria City women’s team will begin its inaugural season by opening WPSL action May 16 in Indianapolis at FC Pride, then will make its home debut May 24 by hosting Lou Fusz Athletic. The home opener will be followed by Peoria City’s first postgame fireworks show of the summer.
