(PEORIA, ILLINOIS) — In the first month of 2025, Peoria City announced the addition of four players to the franchise’s 2025 rosters.
Two players on the inaugural Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) side, two on the USL League Two squad.
Lauren Seppi, a midfielder/forward at the University of Illinois, and her Illini teammate AJ Mayock, start off the WPSL announcements. Seppi is from St. Louis, Missouri – while Mayock is from Round Rock, Texas. Both players are thrilled to be joining Peoria City and are ready to meet the community.
“We’re off to a fantastic start. We’ve secured some of the best local talent from central Illinois, alongside top-tier players from the University of Illinois in the Big 10 Conference,” said Peoria City General Manager & Technical Director Hailey Parungao. “The commitments we’ve received so far have been incredible, and I’m excited for the announcements to come in the next few weeks. The future looks bright, and I can’t wait for our inaugural season!
Wes Gibson, a Morton, Illinois native, enters his fourth year with Peoria City. Gibson has put in the most minutes out of any player in Peoria City’s now four-year history.
“Super Samy Slimi” makes his super return. After helping lead the Carp to the 2024 USL League Two Final, the French goalkeeper is back with Peoria for his second straight season.
Peoria City’s USL League Two Head Coach, Mike Paye, returns for his second year. Paye has started building a roster, full of exciting returns, showcasing the quality of play Peoria offers. This is also a testament to the Carp’s fantastic fanbase.
