PEORIA, IL (May 13, 2022) – More than two years in the making, Peoria City officially will make its franchise debut Saturday night when the USL League Two expansion franchise hosts Minneapolis City SC in a Deep North Division matchup at seven o’clock at Shea Stadium.
While Peoria City will play its first-ever game Saturday night, Minneapolis City SC (0 points, 0-1-0) opened its 2022 League Two season Sunday with a 2-0 home loss to defending champion Des Moines Menace. The teams will meet two more times this season in Minneapolis, next Friday night and Saturday, June 25.
In addition to the soccer action Saturday night, fans will be entertained throughout the evening by Drummadtik Talents Drumline, which will escort the starting elevens onto the field for pregame introductions and perform throughout the game.
Peoria City single-game tickets are just $5 and are available for purchase in advance online at www.peoriacitysoccer.com and at Peoria City Five Bars locations The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill, The Fox Pub & Cafe and Pour Bros. Craft Taproom. Tickets will be available at Shea Stadium, starting at 5 o’clock.
Free parking will be available at Shea Stadium with tailgating permitted to begin at 5 o’clock. The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill will provide complimentary shuttle service between Campustown and Shea Stadium pre- and postgame for Saturday’s season-opener. The Fieldhouse also is sponsoring Saturday night’s Peoria City goal-scoring effort, providing everyone in attendance a coupon for a half-priced appetizer if the home side scores at least two goals.
