Peoria City puts on a clinic, Wins 5-1 over Chicago Dutch Lions

PEORIA, Ill. — Friday Night Lights were in full effect for Peoria City’s home match against Chicago Dutch Lions FC.

Peoria City fans were overjoyed to see Jonas Lyshoj back on the field Friday night. They were even happier when he knocked in the first two goals of the game!

That’d give the Flying Carp a 2-0 lead heading into half-time.

While the first half was great, the second was even better.

Peoria City stayed on the attack, finding the back of the net 3 more times.

Sadly, Chicago scored one goal late in the second half to ruin the shutout, but Peoria City roared to victory over the Dutch Lions 5-1.

Noah Madrigal, Jonah Stekly and Danail Sergiev added on to the goal clinic in the second half in front of a strong hometown crowd of 925 fans.

We had a wonderful time hosting Peoria FC United for PFCU Night. Multiple boys and girls teams were able to meet our players before the game, take photos with them, and walk out onto the field for the National Anthem and starting lineup announcements.

We also welcomed our brand new sponsor, Volkswagen of Peoria to Shea Stadium. Their staff brought out the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas to show off to fans and car enthusiasts alike.

We are also very pleased to partner with the Peoria Park District. Our home match on July 9th with be “Park District Day” at Shea Stadium, welcoming youth soccer players and their families to our last home game of the season.

Peoria City thanks our 4 food truck partners who attended tonight’s match. Haddad’s (Tony’s on Wheels), Tropical Sno, Sweet Girl Treats and Ramblin’ Rounds all made Friday night one to remember.

Our next match is on the road against a new Heartland Division foe, Springfield Athletic Sporting Club. The FieldHouse Bar & Grill is hosting our away game watch party on Wednesday, July 5th! Speaking of The FieldHouse, because we scored more than 3 goals Friday night, anyone with a FieldHouse coupon given out at the Peoria City Soccer game can get a buy one get one free sandwich or burger Saturday, July 1st.

We are then back at home for our final home game, playing Springfield ASC once again.
