PEORIA, IL (April 21, 2022) – Fans of the USL League Two expansion franchise Peoria City soon will be able to enjoy a special brew at each of the team’s Five Bars locations. Bearded Owl Brewing is crafting Peoria City Pils, which will be available beginning May 7 during the team’s next Five Bars Fan Event at The Fox Pub and all Five Bars establishments.
Peoria City recently announced the formation of the Five Bars Pub Club, an association of local establishments which will host Peoria City events and soccer-themed promotions throughout the year. The first Five Bars fan event is today (3:00-6:00 pm) at W.E. Sullivan’s Irish Pub & Fare in Peoria Heights. Additional Five Bars members are Bearded Owl Brewing, The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill, The Fox Pub and Pour Bros. Craft Taproom.
Following Thursday’s event, the second Five Bars event will be held May 7 at The Fox Pub in conjunction with the restaurant’s regular Saturday breakfast during English Premier League action and will include the debut of Peoria City Pils. Bearded Owl Brewing describes Peoria City Pils as a light American Pilsner that is easy to drink, crisp and refreshing; super-balanced with a touch of Saaz hops.
Three days before Peoria City kicks off its inaugural season May 14 by hosting Minneapolis City SC at Shea Stadium, the 2022 squad will host a team meet-and-greet event Wednesday, May 11 (6:00 p.m.) at The Fieldhouse Bar & Grill in Campustown.
Peoria City single-game ($5 GA,) and season ($25 GA, $120 Premium Fieldside) tickets and branded t-shirts ($15 each) will be available at the Five Bars events with online sales soon to follow.
Peoria City is preparing to kick off its inaugural season Saturday, May 14 when the first-year USL League Two expansion team hosts Minneapolis City SC. The other five Peoria City home games are scheduled for Friday, May 27 (Des Moines Menace); Friday, June 3 (St. Croix SC); Wednesday, June 22 (Des Moines Menace); Friday, July 1 (FC Manitoba) and Sunday, July 3 (Thunder Bay Chill). All six games are slated for 7:00 p.m. CT kickoffs at Bradley University’s Shea Stadium.
Five Bars is a reference to the design of the Peoria City badge, which incorporates six diagonal lines to form the borders of five wider bars. The lines symbolize the six Illinois River crossings into the Peoria city limits, while the five bars represent Peoria’s five city council districts.
