Peoria City Women Host NWSL Reserve Team Kansas City Current II Saturday

Fresh off Wednesday night’s historic win, the Peoria City women’s team will have little time to celebrate as the club hosts Kansas City Current II, presented by Donnelly’s Irish Pub, Saturday night at Shea Stadium.

Peoria City (1-2-0) earned its first-ever WPSL victory Wednesday, a 7-0 rout against I-74 rival Junction FC at Shea Stadium. Joelle Livingston (Forsyth, IL/Incarnate Word) scored the first home goal in team history to record the game-winner in the 19th minute, while Rylann Law (Chatham, IL/Illinois State) paced the women with two goals and an assist. AJ Mayock (Round Rock, TX/Illinois) also recorded a brace for Peoria City, which outshot Junction FC, 38-0.

The 2026 WPSL expansion team is playing a three-game exhibition schedule this spring, which began May 18 at Minnesota Aurora and will conclude with a Sunday evening game at Lou Fusz Athletic.

Saturday’s game will be Girls Soccer Night at Shea Stadium: all girls soccer players wearing their school, club or rec jerseys will receive free admission. The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a coupon for a free one-third pound of chicken tenders from Duck’s on Farmington Road in recognition of AJ Mayock’s 29th minute goal Wednesday night during the Duck Call goal window and the first 250 Peoria Home Alliance Play Packs will include a Peoria City themed bottle opener/refrigerator magnet.
