WINNIPEG, Manitoba (June 12, 2022) – Coming off of a 1-1 tie on the road against Thunder Bay on Friday evening, Peoria City was hungry for three point coming into Sunday afternoon’s contest against FC Manitoba. The visitors satisfied that hunger, earning their most-lopsided win of their inaugural season by earning a 4-1 win Sunday afternoon.
Peoria City wasted no time in the first half getting the scoring started in the 6th minute. Cards were handed out often and early as well in the first half as in the 30th minute both Jordi Ramon and Marco Valero received yellow cards for Peoria City, one was also issued to FC Manitoba. In stoppage time, Jordi Ramon was on the receiving end of his second yellow card, resulting in an ejection from the game. The referee then ended the half and Peoria City would be forced to play with 10 men the rest of the game leading 1-0.
That didn’t stop the onslaught of goals that came from Peoria City in the second half. Adria Sabater had himself a half as he struck home a penalty kick in the 61st minute to make it 2-0 Peoria City. Just four minutes later in the 65th minute, Peoria City’s Marco Valero took a corner kick and Adria Sabater headed the ball into the back of the net to extend Peoria City’s lead to 3-0. FC Manitoba would not go down easily however as in the 75th minute they struck one past Peoria City GK Edgar Vargas. That made the game 3-1, but not for long as Adria Sabater, inside the box, was able to whistle one past the outstretched GK and complete the first hat trick in Peoria City history. That goal made the game 4-1, but the action wasn’t done yet as in the 87th minute an FC Manitoba player received their second yellow card and was sent off as well. Soon after, the referee blew the whistle signaling the end of the game and 3 pts for Peoria City.
Peoria City remains undefeated on the road and has notched 10 points in their first four games away from home.
