PEORIA, IL (May 27, 2022) – As Peoria City prepares for tonight’s USL League Two Deep North Division showdown against defending league champion Des Moines Menace, the first-year expansion squad has added to its offensive attack with the addition of Spanish forward Adrià Sabater Olivas.
From Mislata, Valencia, Sabater has played exclusively in his native Spain, most-recently for Rayo Llíria CF in the Autonómicas division. He began this year with Tavernes de la Valldigna in Spain’s Regional League, where he scored 13 goals in 22 games through April 2, helping Tavernes de la Valldigna to third in the Pref. Valenciana table. The attacking central forward debuted with Saint-Priest in France’s National 2 League in 2018.
Sabater’s addition pushes Peoria City’s overall roster to 27 players and he is expected to be among the active squad for tonight’s matchup against Des Moines. Peoria City is coming off a pair of wins this past weekend in Minnesota at Minneapolis City SC (1-0) and St. Croix SC (2-1), pushing the first-year expansion franchise to the top of the League Two Deep North Division standings with seven points. Des Moines (2-0-0, 6 points), meanwhile, has outscored its first two opponents by six total goals and the Menace enter tonight’s showdown riding a 9-game overall winning streak with an 18-1-0 regular-season and playoffs record the last two seasons.
