Match Recap: Peoria City beats St. Charles in dominant fashion

PEORIA, IL — Our week 1 loss to St. Charles FC is a night we wish we could get back.

After a strong first half in front of a record-breaking crowd, the match became a game of two halves and we ended up falling short 2-3.
Wednesday night proved to be redemption for Peoria City. The team marched into the pitch at Lutheran St. Charles High School just outside of St. Louis, MO and won in dominant fashion.
Peoria City got on the board in the first ten minutes thanks to Matteo Boasso, scoring his first goal of the season! St. Charles FC would tie it later to make it 1-1.
This time, the second half became our friend. In the 76th minute, newcomer Justin Wilson had a beautiful steal and score play that put us up 2-1. Wilson played aggressively in the opponents’ side of the pitch, applying pressure and making plays.
About 10 minutes later in the 86th minute, Sam Moore knocks in his first goal of the season! The highlight-reel worthy goal was made possible by a beautiful cross by Noah Madrigal.
Peoria City would hold on 3-1 to even the series against St. Charles FC. For supporters who couldn’t make it to the match, we hosted an away game watch party at the Fox Pub & Cafe. Peoria City fans came out to cheer on the club, and we were able to create new Peoria City fans while there as well!
Our next game wraps up the 4 away-game stretch we’ve been on the last few weeks. We face an undefeated Chicago City SC team on Tuesday, June 20th. Castle’s Patio Inn will be hosting the watch party that night.

“Peoria will play home to future stars of American soccer.”
