Hussak Named First Peoria City Women’s Head Coach

Current Indian Hills CC Head Coach Boasts Nine Years College Experience

(APRIL 17, 2025 | PEORIA, IL) – Indian Hills Community College women’s soccer head coach Jonathan Hussak has been named the first head coach for Peoria City women’s soccer and will lead the squad into its inaugural season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League this summer.

I am honored to be selected as the first head coach for Peoria City FC’s WPSL inaugural program,” said Hussak. “I want to thank Jim DeRose, Hailey Parungao, Bobby Parker and the club owners for putting their confidence in me to lead this group. The resources provided to the club, plus the experience they provide to players, makes this place one of the premier soccer locations for both the WPSL and USL League Two. I am excited to work with some of the best talent in the US at the youth and college levels.

Completing his second year overseeing the Indian Hills program, Hussak boasts nine years overall of collegiate coaching experience spanning NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NJCAA, including six years as a head coach. Hussak owns a 19-12-3 record at Indian Hills and has led the Warriors to first-round wins in the NJCAA Division I district tournament in each of his two seasons.

In the process of identifying our head coach, it was important for both GM/Technical Director Hailey Parungao and myself to have an individual that had experience across multiple platforms with an extensive coaching background,” said Peoria City President Jim DeRose.

“Jon’s international experience in Canada, as well as at the Division I, Division II and Junior College levels, has seen him recruit, train and successfully coach players both domestically and abroad,” DeRose added. “Further, his work in the Olympic Development and Provincial spaces has provided him with experience in selecting quality players and getting them ready to play quickly as an organized unit to achieve success. Collegiately, Jon’s wealth of experience in coaching elite talent as an assistant coach, and then transferring those skills as a head coach, has seen him build programs from the ground up, setting a strong foundation for sustained success. We believe these skills will be a great asset to our club and we are excited to welcome him to Peoria.”

Prior to taking over at Indian Hills, Hussak was the head coach at NCAA Division II Texas A&M International University from January 2020 through January 2023, guiding the Dust Devils through the COVID-19 pandemic years and an improved record in two of his three seasons. As an assistant coach at West Florida during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Hussak helped the Argonauts to a 32-6-1 record, including an undefeated regular season in 2018. Following one season as a volunteer assistant coach at NCAA Division I North Florida in 2016, Hussak earned his first head-coaching job at NJCAA Division I Andrew College in 2017.

GM/Technical Director Hailey Parungao has worked tirelessly since her appointment in February to build a broad-based roster that is reflective of the goals of our club,” said DeRose. “With the quality players Hailey already has signed, coupled with Jon’s addition as head coach, we are excited to round out our 2025 roster on both the WPSL and WPSL II sides in preparation for a great summer.”

The Peoria City women’s team will open their inaugural season May 16 by visiting FC Pride. The club’s first home game will be Saturday, May 24 versus Lou Fusz Athletic, a 7:30 pm kickoff at Shea Stadium.
