PEORIA, IL (DEC. 8, 2025) – Peoria City has announced the return of its popular Winter Technical/Skills Training Program to help the area’s local youth soccer players prepare for their spring competition season.
Continuing its partnership with The Yard Peoria, the pre-professional soccer club will offer eight one-hour training sessions before school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (6:00-7:00 am) from Feb. 3-26 at Central Illinois’ premier indoor training center located at 1503 W. Altorfer Drive.
The Peoria City Winter Technical/Skills Training program is designed for boys and girls players in grades 6-12 (ages 11-19). Featuring a highly-focused and individual-guided curriculum, players will be fully immersed in a technical and skill-development program to hone and enhance their competitive playing level. In addition to traditional technical development areas of concentration – dribbling, passing-and-receiving, first-touch preparation and goalkeeping skills – there will be a special emphasis placed on ball striking and non-dominant foot proficiency. The fast-paced and dynamic 1-hour training sessions also will provide players a base of physical preparation for their upcoming seasons as they maximize their individual time on the ball. Included in the price is a light menu option of juice, bagels and breakfast bars to go. Players are required to bring their own, fully-inflated and age-appropriate ball to each training session.
Soccer members at The Yard Peoria will receive a 25 percent discount off either of the two program registration options: all eight training sessions for $160 ($120 for The Yard members) or one training session per week for $100 ($75 for The Yard members).
In addition to the return of the Winter Technical/Skills Training Program, Peoria City also is offering a third session of its After-School Training Program Jan. 5-29, as well as a trio of school holiday day camps: Monday, Jan. 5 (Winter Back To School Camp); Monday, Jan. 19 (Martin Luther King Day Camp); and Monday, Feb. 16 (Presidents Day Camp).
Camp descriptions and registration links for all Peoria City camps and clinics are available online by visiting the Camps menu at PeoriaCitySoccer.com.
Peoria City is preparing for its fifth year of competition in USL League Two, the top pre-professional men’s soccer league in the United States. While ranking among the national attendance leaders during each of its first four seasons, the club has enjoyed a meteoric rise in League Two, including a trio of playoff appearances and a run to the 2024 Central Conference championship and national runner-up finish in the 144-team league.
